Somewhere around 1968, Fender decided their amps needed a facelift. They added some shiny aluminum trim around the grill cloth — the so-called “drip edge” — and swapped the black faceplates for silver. Under the hood, though, it was still the same circuit that powered the blackface era. Translation: this Twin still sounds like heaven and weighs about the same as a small planet.

This particular example has been fully gone through by our amp techs here at Wendell’s Music, and it’s earned the Steve McKinley Seal of Approval — which, around here, means it’s ready to play any gig, record any session, or blow your pant legs back in the comfort of your own home.

Internals have been checked and refreshed as needed:

  • All caps, tubes, and components tested and replaced where necessary

  • Bias set and pots cleaned

  • Speakers appear original (CTS) and sound as they should — big, clean, and rich

  • Tilt-back legs are intact and functional (so your chiropractor can rest easy)

  • Original grill cloth, clean and unstained

  • Cabinet and tolex in very good shape, with only honest signs of wear

Whether you want that crystalline Fender clean, lush reverb, or classic tremolo shimmer, this Twin delivers the goods. It’s got the look of the silverface era, the guts of the blackface years, and the kind of tone that makes you forget how heavy it is… at least until load-out.

Come check it out at Wendell’s Music — or snag it before someone else does. This one’s ready for its next fifty years.
